mIXED MEDIA portrait of self

Brock Rutherford cofounder of Omni-art(716)

Omni Art, to me, is more than just a name—it’s a philosophy, a way of moving through the world creatively. It means “art in all directions,” and that’s exactly how I approach my work. I don’t limit myself to one medium, one style, emotion, or direction. Instead, I embrace the vastness of artistic expression. weaving together painting, sculpture, digital design, metal casting, 3D printing, and more into a continuous exploration of form, meaning, and illusion.

My creative process often begins with a single dot. From there, patterns emerge—six dots, then a circle of dots, then a grid. This geometric foundation is the heartbeat of my work, evolving into intricate sacred geometry, tessellations, and organic elements. I see each one as a unique manifestation of my journey, a meditation on balance, interconnectedness, and growth.

Illusion plays a major role in my art. Whether I’m designing 3D illusions with a laser cutter, creating floating trees in my paintings, or experimenting with Artivive’s augmented reality tools, I love to challenge perception. I want my work to pull viewers into another dimension, inviting them to question what is real, what is hidden, and what exists beyond what the eye perceives. My goal isn’t just to create beautiful things, but to help people see the world—and themselves—in new ways.

At the core of my art is a desire to point people toward their own inner light. I believe before we can bring balance to the world, we must first bring balance to ourselves. My work reflects that ongoing journey, often drawing on symbols that resonate deeply with me: the snake, the pinecone, the flower of life, infinity, and the interplay between organic and geometric forms. These symbols are more than just aesthetic choices—they are meditative signposts, guiding both me and my audience toward deeper contemplation.

Beyond the canvas, I push my creativity into other realms. I recycle aluminum cans into cast metal sculptures, blending sustainability with artistry. I design jewelry that merges the precision of geometry with the fluidity of nature. I explore VR sculpting, bringing my hands into the digital world to craft forms that feel both ancient and futuristic. Every medium I touch is an extension of my belief that art should be limitless, flowing in all directions, unrestricted by boundaries.

Omni Art is my way of embracing that philosophy fully. It’s why I refuse to confine myself to one label, one medium, or one expectation. My work is ever-evolving, just like me. And if there’s one thing I want people to take away from my art, it’s that they, too, have the power to explore, expand, and create without limits.

Art, in all directions. Omni Art.
